How we use your data
When you register for an event
When you register for an event, for example by accepting an email invitation, signing up to an event on LinkedIn or Eventbrite (amongst others), you may be asked to provide certain information. This could include your name, affiliation, an email address, or other information.
We endeavour to collect the absolute minimum amount of information required for that event. We may ask for optional information to provide you with a better event. Optional information will be marked as such in the tools used to collect that information.
By registering for an event, you give us permission to contact you.
- We promise to only use that information to contact you about that event, or provide information about other events that we think may be relevant.
- We will not add you to a mailing list, newsletter, or similar service. Instead, you may be invited during the registration process to join such a mailing list; this will be optional and not a requirement for participation.
As far as possible we will inform you about the platform used for the event before the event starts. You should inform yourself as to whether that platform meets your own data protection and privacy requirements.
During events
We may use information collected automatically during an event to manage your participation in that event. We may also communicate directly with you during that event.
We will inform you if we need to record an event, or capture still images or video. This may be required for accurate minutes or could be for publicity reasons. This will be communicated to you before it happens, and a recording warning may be shown. You may temporarily leave the meeting if you do not wish to take part.
We have no control over other participants’ use of screen capture or recording technology. As noted above, you should inform yourself as to whether the online event platform meets your own data protection and privacy requirements.
After events
We may contact you after events to provide you with minutes or other information about the event.
You may be invited after the event to join a mailing list or other service to keep you informed about future events.
Responsibility for content
We only accept resonsibility for the information or content that we present at such events.
We accept no responsibility for any information or material presented by third parties at such events.
